生まれ変わるための宿

A HOTEL DESIGNED
FOR REBIRTH.

moksa is located in the village of Yase at the foot of
Mt. Hiei,
one of the two sacred mountains that
gave birth to Japanese Buddhism.
Yase is home to
Japan’s oldest steam-bath, created 1,350 years ago
by the local villagers to heal an arrow wound suffered
in
the Jinshin War by Prince Oami (later to become the
revered
Emperor Tenmu.). From that time,
Yase came to be loved by samurai
and nobles as a place
for healing both mind and body.

The word “moksa” means “liberation from earthly
cares” in Sanskrit.
The name “moksa” encapsulates our
desire for this place in Yase
to provide an experience
that washes away the cares of modern life,
and re-invigorates your mind and body.

A wood-fired restaurant kitchen that uses fresh
vegetables and
wild herbs from Ohara...
Private steambath saunas using
pure flowing water
from the Takano stream...
Tea served in a variety of
traditions to stimulate
the circulation of “ki” energy...

We hope you will savor moments of regeneration while
staying here,
absorbing the power of the Yase area.
